Looking for opinions on were you like the balance point to be given where you hold the gun. Neutral, muzzle, rear..?

Neutrel, The MK3 is a front heavy gun and can get whippy, I want it pressed lightly to my shoulder so the balance point should be right where the gun rest on my knee. Some guys shoot best with it pressed in their elbow. Either way I want the gun to "float" on the KZ with almost no effort from me.

for me, i prefer it to be a tiny bit forward....

My tx is a "fish scale" mk3 and it seems to be better for me just a little forward of neutral, though this varies depending on what gun i am shooting. I find it very difficult to consistantly squeeze the trigger so my TX recoils straight back; i always seem to get a tiny bit of muzzle flip.

Rearward for me

I balance the gun on my knee and then pull it back an inch or two. If it's neutral or forward the gun dips when fired giving about an inch low at 30 yards, but also not consistent.

I've been experimenting....

May 19 2008, 11:53 AM

with the balance on my TX for a while by adding different amounts of weight to the rear trying to get it to the point that it shot consistently. The way it ended up is neutral 2/3s to the front of my knee rest. It seems as though pulling it back just a touch helps but I haven't shot it enough to say for sure though. I do know that the POI drops an 1 1/4" at 25yds when I take it off.....

Besides possible cant error(the level takes care of that...or at least when I watch it!!LOL). Do you see any obvious concerns that could cause inherent accuracy issues? Seems to be doing fine but while I'm fairly comfortable in my knowledge of sporting springers, setting up a FT gun is new to me.

Thanks, Scott
