JSB's vs. CPH's

In all the time I've been shooting air rifles, I've never sat down and shot groups. I normally shoot horizontal and vertical lines for set up and then play with the targets, Today, I decided to compare JSB Heavies with CPH's. I've used CPH's up until this year. Harold or John got a large shipment of JSB's in and I tried a sleeve of them. Been shooting them all summer. I have done reasonably well with them.

Anyway, I finished up today with my newest scope set up (Never ends) and tried both in ten shot groups. At 30 yds, the JSB's could have been covered with a dime and the CPH's would have taken a nickel+. There were no flyers though with either one. I want to try them at other distances and will when I have time.

These groups were shot through my USFT carbine #217 with the Nikko scope and from the bench. So, I was able eliminate some potenial problems, such as mother nature and all the other problems I bring to the table. There was no wind this afternoon to fool with me.  I believe I will stay with the JSB's .

Anybody around here looking to purchase some more soon?

Have a good evening,

Pat

I found the best way to see which pellet grouped the best was to test them at distance (50-55 yards). Most anything will group well 30 yards and in. 55 yards will tell which one groups best for sure. Hope to see you next week at Roz's.

I've counted to infinity......twice

you will competing. He said shoot from and FT seated position with your back against a wall or something that won't move.

It is what it is, because it is!!!

Springers

Back against a wall won't work with a springer. At least it doesn't for me. Also I agree 55 yards is the place to test. I have a MarkI TX200 that seems to almost be laser with FTS's out to 30 yards with the groups being markedly better than anything else. When I move out to 55 yards the Exacts will do groups half the size of the FTS's.

You dont think it would work with a springer?.. I just see one addition to the equation..

That being you back is now against an immovable object. which should stop some movement in you upper body while seated on the bumbag. If you dont mind could you explain why it wouldnt work. I own springers but don't shoot FT with them, so I'm not sure what you think would stop it yet. the shooter is changing the placement of the rifle or the way its held on the knee at all.

I don't know why it doesn't work for me, but I've tried it many times and my guns just don't shoot good groups with my back supported. I shoot from my garage a lot and have a handy bumper to lighly rest my shoulder blade against, but I seem to get some really off shots with regularity. At least I could really keep the crosshairs super steady.
