I believe Johnny Piston out west has dubbed 2011 as year of the springer... Well I guess that has been catching on out here in Texas.... There was one young lead slinger here that showed us all how it was done with the Match high score on a pretty tricky course and in varible wind conditions... He was shooting sub 12 FPE HW97... I was just looking at the weather report with current conditions: South wind at 17 mph... On the lanes the wind was swirling! I know this isn't the official match report... But WOW! That was some FINE shooting there Mike V! Awesome! ...52/54...

Congratulations Mike! That's a great piston score. It's good to see the renewed interest in piston guns. They are tough to shoot and it's very rewarding to win with one.

Nice shooting partner! (I believe that's what they say in TX). Piston gun (recoiling) and under 12 ftlbs! in 17mph swirling wind!!! That is impressive...

We're not worthy, we're not worthy --- wink.gif
Look out Johnny, it looks like you got some stiff competition.

Definitely the most SUPERHUMAN FT shooting I've witnessed!

February 21 2011, 12:27 AM

Only 2 misses in a challenging 54 shot match with tough winds, Mike Vrendenburg used an 11.5 FP recoilling springer. He's just as good in pistol FT; also won the PFT match today (as usual). The guy is a machine!

I shot the rifle match with MikeV...

February 21 2011, 11:56 AM

He was definitely "dialed in" yesterday. BTW, the course was not a 'gimme' either (I'd say high 30's for sure).

I think most of us had trouble with that 1/2" Squirell on the tree stomp, which is a staple target at Yegua (downhill shot, lane 8, around the bend on the Longhorn course)... Mike did'nt break a sweat!

Great shooting Mike,

Thanks guys.  Every so often things just come together.  Just don't ask me to repeat it.  Oh wait, next month is the RoT match.  So yes, a repeat would be fantastic. happy.gif

Incredible score my man -

52/54 is a great score in open pcp class, but a sub 12 fpe springer? That's an incredible score! I'm tipping my hat as I type-

Talk about staying in the groove!

Absolutely outstanding job Mike
Just goes to show that with the right tricked out recoiling springer
and the shooter stays totally in the groove that the recoilless PCP
folks can be picked on... lol
I personally really enjoyed watching him shoot. Those little subtle changes he would do for wind & such made me think of myself of days gone by when I was in top form. Boy! do I miss those days sad.gif
I do hope the so called "piston" class does make a comeback to what is was long ago

There is only two kinds of air guns in the
world and that is recoiling & recoilless
