To say that the annual Christmas match was a success would be an understatement. we had a great turnout.
we were greeted with incredible December weather. We might have hit 80+ degrees. The winds were mild at 1-3 mph. The cows were there but friendly. I know i saw one wink at LD.
After the match we shared our best dishes (mine being some Sam Adams) and every one had a great time,
The fianl match of the Heavens Rach cup series ended and the winners took home nice medals including an award for high hunter springer awarded to Art Burciaga who also managed a second in open hunter class. We will continue the Heavens Ranch series next year and details will be posted. We will go dark for the series in January and February but will continue to hold non cup matches if weather permits.
Elections were held and our new President is Bill Tremel. Our Vice President is Hector Alfaro and our treasurer is Ed Curry. Bill addressed the group with his vision for the club. He has some great ideas and great enthusiasm.

.....finally a real down to earth great match and a lot of the credit goes to THE GUY who set a very interesting FT course & he didn't need that "can-of-whip-arse"to wrap-up the springer class.....LARRY PIRRONE,TKZ buddy!!!!UDAMAN!!!!
I extend my thanks to CASA for your hospitality.... (pics)

It was well worth the trip out to Heavens Ranch to satisfy my FT-itch and visit with you all again! It was a great turnout of particpants even with a few regulars missing from the crowd. I met several CASA shooters I hadn't before. Albert was an excellent squad partner and an enjoyable representative for your club.
Heavens Ranch provides a challenging and scenic Field Target experience. I'm looking forward to future opportunities to head your way when possible.
The grounds being a working Ranch provided a little more of an interesting experience for the day. We had to "shoo" a few couple cattle away to safer grounds before we could start the match down on the far lanes. For whatever reason, the they were pretty curious about what we were all doing. They weren't in hurry to toddle off either...lol! No sooner than I convinced the first two to move on to the other side of the hill did another one show up from the adjacent lanes looking annoyed with the situation. I was wishing I had a saddled horse so I could do some wrangling!
Later in the day, "Cali" looked liked she was ready to go to work when the herd came back in for their (post match) afternoon feeding. As they were comming over the ridge her cattle herding instincts were kicking in and she was excitedly waiting for the go ahead to round em up!
Lunch at the barn was excellent! The sandwiches we're yummy. Dave's specialty meatballs were tasty. The potato salad and mac salad were quite good, Hector's shrimp & salsa fresca was "da bomb" and the beverages, cake, & chocolate sweets capped it off nicely.
The swap meet tables were full to! Lots of scopes and several handsome airguns in the mix. I ended up bringing home a Luepold 6.5-20x EFR (going on my custom R9) and a camo soft case.
Heavens Ranch looks like an opportunity for numerous experiences. After lunch I noticed there was a group some youths in matching t-shirts that were on a visit to the Ranch in the livestock area it where some of the horses and other animals were. It had me wondering if you guys couldn't put on a small airgun event for the Scouts or other youths right their at the Ranch.
Thanks again for having us Diablo dudes down your way for the day. Good luck with all your endeavors in 2012! I hope to come visit with you all again soon.
.......!!!That you Lonnie Smith,& Kevin Yee treked from N/Cal to participate in Casa's Christmas FT match.TKZ YOU OH SO MUCH and speaking only for myself,I'm going try to come up for a FT weekend visit,so keep me posted.TKZ again.
What a great way to end the year, wish I could have made it down, but just couldn't

get away this time.. Boy Dave and LD were continuing their top notch shooting! Wow, lots of great scores! Good turnout for this time of year too. Merry Christmas everyone!
What a huge step up compared to the short shrift we were getting for the Prado range facility. This was our very first Christmas Event in a LONG time that was not under a roof at Prado, and I'd say it went darned well.
Dave and I have been nip and tuck on scores for a long time now ... must be the tune of his gun or sumthin.
We could not have asked for better weather with the temps in the mid 70's and very mild winds of 1 to 3 miles per hr on average. Larry P. set a very nice course with some modestly difficult shots that would have been killers with more wind. We did have one lane with some wee tiny weeny kill zones that gave most of the others trouble that I fortunately cleaned. The only shot I missed all day was about 52 yds with a very steep uphill angle and the sun in my eyes. I think I rushed the shot because it was uncomfortable but I think it was the most difficult long shot too.
All in all I think it was my best showing all year. I would be more excited if not for the fact that LD was able to do just as well with his Hunter rig and a 12x scope. I am not sure what his secret is but he has really stepped up his game since going over to the Hunter division.
It was a nice way to close out the year with such a great showing and all the good food afterwards.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all.
Dave
