Great Match and Report

Mark, very nice match report. Your club has access to some of the nicest shooting terrain in the West. Every time I read your match reports I drool over the course. Of course it helps to have diabolical Bobby setting the targets, he takes the challenge personally and creates some memorable matches.

Great shooting (and thank God for smartphones)!

Thank you, Jim....

...for your kind words. We do have some nice venues to utilize for our matches and we try to make them different each and every time. Bobby has had a hand in teaching all of our match directors, and as such, we all try to outdo each other. It is fun to see how creative we can be, but nobody does it like Bobby does it.

Bobby also sent me the target distances and KZ sizes. The match calculated to be a 34.8 Troyer. It was fun, but even funnier listening to what some of the guys wanted to do to a few of those targets. The comments were hysterical at times.

FTI, the club voted (yes, it is a member run club) and they decided to have our state shoot in September to also be an AAFTA grand prix.

Best regards,
Mark

Hey Carl, I thought.....

April 19 2017, 12:41 AM

....you mentioned that you would be out this month or maybe next when we last spoke. Let me know either way.

IF you are planning on coming out for the Mormon Lake matches, plan on making it a weekend.

As for Bobby's match, you would have had a ball! We were dead tired afterwards, but we had fun. I will send you a P/M and update you on other items of interest.

Later,
Mark

great report Mark, Bobby is a master at setting courses... he should give classes. I was

April 18 2017, 10:19 PM

fortunate to help him set courses at LD's matches the last few years, and he really knows targets and how to fix them and set them properly.... but his real genius is the fun and challenging places he puts them:-))

Were gonna miss him here this year... I hear you AZ folks wouldn't let him go, cause you wanted to shoot at his place that weekend.. we'll get ya for that some day:-) Scott and I, with LD a pointing and a prodding, will do our best to fill those boots, but there is little hope I fear:-)

Bobby is certainly that!

He has been setting matches for as long as I have known him. That goes back to 1992.

He HAS given classes/clinics to everyone who has helped him set courses over the years. All of you guys know how to do that. You just have to be a little bit creative.

With the fact that we have to schedule our matches at the various venues that we use a year in advance, Bobby offered to host April and May for this year. Club members plan their personal schedules around the 3rd Saturday of each month, so we would have to either jump through hoops and see what could be done in Bobby's absence, or cancel our match. It would be nice to just move it, but.....

You guys will be just fine at LD's place next month. Don't worry. Have fun, enjoy, and use Bobby's past course setup's as inspiration to make this year's even better. You guys have a wealth of knowledge and experience to draw from and can easily do it!

Thank you also for the kind words,
Best regards,
Mark
