Good Ole Boy’s match – May 7, 2017
Boy, have we been lucky working around the rain this spring. Middle Tennessee has been blessed with a more than a fair amount of rain in early 2017. The past week we had a lot of high winds. Up to 70mph gusts, with a lot of it 20-30mph.
The good thing is that they haven’t been sustained. We had some pretty good gusts during this weekends match that I know bothered some of our shooters.
Harold Rushton was top shooter again this week overall and in the WFTF class with a score of 51/60. Roz Sumpter was right behind with a score of 50/60 for tops in the PCP class. Both agreed that the wind probably affected some of their shots.
Steve Vines was able to come down and finished with a good score in the Piston class with a score of 40/60. He started off on Lane 8 with a flat zero for the lane. We knew that something was wrong because he wasn’t even close and Cliff Smith suggested that he shoot a patch though the barrel before going on. Lo and behold, the next lane was quite an improvement with a score of 5/6. Steve finished the match with a very decent score, especially with the wind.

Next Saturday will be the GOB scheduled match on May 13, 2017, the 2nd Saturday of the month and the last before the Southern Open at Heflin the following week. Quite a few of our shooters will be heading south for that match. If you want to shoot a very challenging course, don’t miss this one.
The next scheduled match in the area will be at Minor Hill, TN for the Invicta match on the 4th weekend of the month, May 27, 2017.
Hope the rain will hold off one more weekend around here,
