Pistol match

July 14 2017, 12:26 PM

Wayne,
FYI - The clicking pistol class is called "Limited". Not "unlimited". As far as match awards, you can put me in any pistol class, but I want my AAFTA pistol GP points to be for Hunter. I don't click, so I qualify for Hunter Pistol.

Things came up so I'll be traveling to Ashland from Idaho on Monday. My Wife will be along so she will be entertaining herself while I compete in the three day match on Fri, Sat, Sunday.

I won't have a break barrel with me, but I'll borrow one if available and I want to shoot the pistol course again.

Looking forward to next weekend.

Bring your favorite Break Barrel for an extra match on the Pistol Course

July 13 2017, 6:17 PM

on Friday. We'll have two start times, Pistol at 2:00 pm (note that is moved up an hour), and Basic Break Barrel at 4:30 pm.

I'm even allowing ten meter rigs under 6fpe, so come and have some fun. The course won't be too hard.

Scopes 12x and under, range finding allowed. Bi-Pods Ok for this match, but if you want to practice for Scott Hull's up coming match... here is his rules:
For West Coast piston match, Basic = factory stock. No risers, no butthooks. Benjamin, Crosman, Gamo, Hatsan, etc. all fine. Old Dianas and HWs are fine too. No scope adjustment (fix power, non-AO). It's just an award for those shooting guns that would generally not be competitive for high piston awards.

WELL, I'VE DECIDED TO OFFER A HUGH CASH PRIZE OF $20 TO THE WINNER OF THE BASIC BREAK BARREL RIFLE MATCH.

Latest weather report for Ashland OR... Match week and day

July 16 2017, 9:30 PM

https://www.wunderground.com/us/or/ashland

Keep in mind that the course is totally in the shade and there WILL be a 3 to 8 mph wind so it is normally about 8 to 10 degrees cooler on the course.

We are about done with setting up the course and it's been real comfortable working in the oak forest the course is set in. We'll be testing all the targets in place now. We already bench tested each one, but we want to be as sure as possible that each one will fall for those wimp gun shooters:-)

Don't forget to bring your favorite stock break barrel for the extra BBB match on the pistol course Friday afternoon. I have two more rigs I can loan out, so let me know if you want to claim one of them:-) I've decided to offer a Cash $20 prize to the winner of this event. How's that for motivation:-) That'll probably make half your morgtage payment:-)

no need to forgo the pistol... we'll take a break in between the matches..

July 18 2017, 6:47 PM

It should'nt be too taxing of a course to shoot twice in an afternoon. If all pistol competitors are present earlier on Friday, then we can start the pistol sooner and have more of a break between matches..

Drive Safely Folks... enjoy your journey, and see ya soon! The weather

July 20 2017, 11:13 AM

looks to be about perfert. Low 90's for the high and low 50's for for the low temps.. Humidity in the 20% by afternoon. The whole course is in the shade of the oaks. Just enough wind to make you hold out of the kill zone.. I hope.

The kill zones are generous for the most part, so I need some wind to make it a challenge for the top shooters. I predict a crowd at the top fighting for the victories. Both courses are about a 31T, with the up and down factors.... and there are more than the required past 40 shots. I'm planning on the normal wind we get, or someone just might clean it... but that's OK I guess:-)
