October on Long Island is supposed to be on the cool side, daytime highs in the lower 70s and dry but this past weekend October was more like August Hot and Humid. We had our final match of the season and it was a Grand Prix event.
I want to thank Paul Porch who made the trip from North Carolina and Bill and Melissa Day who travel from Maine, Leo Gonzales from Connecticut, John Eroh from Massachusetts, Brian Vanliew from New Jersey, Mike Harris from Pennsylvania, Eric Brewer, Sean McDaniel, Nathan Thomas, Hans and Ray Apelles and Rosalie Paulson from upstate New York, Roel Jackson, Kevin Campbell, Joseph Kruzon and Tom Holland whos help much appreciated in setting the match.

The match schedule had to be altered due to the fact Thunder storms had been predated for the second day of the match we had planned on shooting Rifle Saturday have lunch and then the pistol event and Sunday the second rifle and that was the plan up until Saturday morning the weather forecast Sunday kept on getting worse every so we decide to change the format Day 1 Rifle Saturday morning lunch then Day 2 in the afternoon and Sunday the pistol match and the last group was just about finished when conditions were getting close to dangerous situation.

Norm this season for East Coast and Southern Grand Prix's. 3rd time this season I had to shoot two for one.....

Starting to like the long days of rifle matches....lol

Dispite me bringing the wrong pellets I had a great time. The lunch food was really super. I miss the Yankee tastes, especially the eggplant Parmesan.....

Of course the company is always welcome. Glad to have the opportunity to shoot with the North East gang 4 times this year.

A special thank you to friend Brian Van Liew for supplying me the correct pellets or I would have had an even tougher day.

The course was enjoyable and the LI winds did not disappoint... Especially on Sunday when it really blew for the pistol match! I could of done without the downpour of rain on the last lane!

Thanks to you Tom and Tom Holland, and all the others who helped to make the match possible....

Thanks for holding the GP match

October 10 2017, 10:43 AM

Tom W.,
Tom H.,

I enjoyed the weekend especially doing the (66+48=114 shots) rifle course in one day.
I think an all day GP rifle match with a lunch break in between morning and afternoon sessions would a good thing to do in the future.

I wish more people shot hands only pistol with no magnification. John and I finished the 40 shot pistol course in less than an hour.

Thanks a bunch,
Leo G in CT
