Doom had been looking down into her drink as she chatted and it wasn't until she looked up that she realised that Brandon had in fact fallen asleep in the chair. She realised that he must have been exhausted and yet he had tried hard to stay awake and alert for her but she decided to take the opportunity to see the damage done by Charon for herself.
She walked silently over to where Brandon was now slumped breathing deeply and quietly and lifted his shirt. She'd noticed that he'd taken great care to hide his injuries from her throughout the day. His ribs had been tightly bandaged but even round the edges of the bandages she could see the vivid red and purple bruising. She ran her hands gently over the scars made by the werewolf, even though she'd seen them many times now, she still found them fascinating, a link between them maybe. The scars linked Brandon to his past, as did her vampire skills, if you could call them that.
She found a blanket and covered him up, then she sat back down and watched him sleep. She only woke when the glass she was drinking from slipped from her grasp and bumped hard on the carpeted floor. |
