You know what I think? I think this monstrously evil vampire
entity is probably still the single most intensely frightening film monster I have yet seen. I think Hooper and his guys did a very exceptional job
on the vampire makeup here (one is almost tempted to say 'phenomenal'.)
Reggie Nalder's Barlow is a nightmare of malevolence that SMASHES INTO YOUR KITCHEN AT 3 IN THE MORNING and KILLS YOUR PARENTS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU!!! Check out that black cloak-the way it sweeps across the Petrie kitchen.
More frightening than Vader's was, if you ask me. Barlow is not handsome or seductive; he is a seriously AWFUL walking-corpse of a nightmare. One of the best ever.
