First of all- if she's in high school and doesn't even have her license yet- she's awfully darn spoiled to have her own car, let alone a snappy convertible!
You are not being unreasonable!!!!! Don't let the old stuff sneak in and cloud your common sense. There is no reason for you to risk hurting your back. If the old clunker drives and you don't care what you're driving- then I say let her car sit if that's the choice she is making- and if she wants it covered- then that's the choice she's making.
