If I had a nice, clean, crisp, new, $100 bill, would any of you like to have it? If I waved it around in a crowded room and said, "Anybody want this? You can have it," would I have any takers?
Now suppose I ripped a corner of the bill, wadded it up, threw it in the dirt, and stepped on it. Would any of you still like to have it? If I waved it around in a crowded room, would there be any takers?
Heck, yeah, because we all know that the $100 bill is worth groceries, phone bills, new CDs, medicine, sturdy shoes - the value of the bill did not change at all. Still buys $100 worth of whatever.
And so our value does not depend on what life has thrown at us. We all have an enormous amount of intrinsic worth. I wish everybody would treat us accordingly. Even more, I wish I would always treat everybody accordingly
Paula, you can't be judged as a waste of time or worth less than other people just because they look like they are "together" and you are obviously struggling right now. Who do you think of as valuable? Leonardo da Vinci? William Shakespeare? Florence Nightingale? They were all human like the rest of us and they all had bad days too. But I know it hurts to be where you are and so I hope that tomorrow you come to better days.
(Hello everybody. This is a "better day" for me too. New pills are helping. Fever is going down and I can sit at the computer for a short time. Still waiting on people and tests and things but it looks like there might be light at the end of this tunnel
Take care all,
Maggie
