I don't even know why I put it here except that I read the article and it spelled out exactly what happened to me and what I was told when I was having all that back trouble. You know what? The surgery was a miricle for me. I got my life back and I never have any pain any more. I had a severely herniated disc. But the article does say that only about 2% of back patients can find surgery useful and also they told me that about 90% of herniated discs will go back into place with physical therapy, so they ALWAYS put you through a couple months of that before they would ever say surgery.
Anyway, I guess I must have been thinking about you.... Hope it is really helpful, but I am sorry you are in pain.
