Your Top 10 For 2005...?

Tell us what films did it for you this year. And maybe a few turkeys.

Here's mine (in no order - maybe the order in which i saw them?)

1. The Incredibles (perfect, even if it is an animation - Pixar can do no wrong)
2. Million Dollar Baby (old-school storytelling with a modern darkness)
3. Primer (proof that a great idea will survive a cheap execution - i've never been so satisfied to lose the thread of a plot so thoroughly)
4. Good Night & Good Luck (exemplary left-wing-Hollywood lecture - i felt like standing up and applauding throughout)
5. Land Of The Dead (neat, allegorical zombie film - George wrote the book, so why not re-write it, too?)
6. Hotel Rwanda (a good example of a story so important that the director and actors just get the fuck out of it's way - Don Cheadle's performance is a master-class of subtle judgement in acting)
7. The Constant Gardener (brilliant, vivid, lively & complex polito/cultural tale)
8. Young Adam (the book is one of my faves, and this was a gloriously grim & grimy adaptation)
9. Me & You & Everyone We Know (god, i loved this!)
10. Broken Flowers (Finally, a Jim Jarmusch colour film that i like!)

Honourable mention:

The Proposition (flawed, sophomoric and badly proportioned, but SUCH an important Australian film for rubbing our noses in the past)

And the duds:

The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou (I'll be boycotting Wes Anderson from now on)
Little Fish (a squandering of awesome talent and performances on a cop-out, confrontation-shy script)
Sin City (as a fan of the comi - er, graphic novel, I thought this was going to be the most awesome film i'd seen in 20 years. wrong.)

I didn't get to the flicks nearly as often as i wanted to this year, and missed out on what i'm sure were some great films. ah well, hopefully 2006 will be a good 'un, too.

er... The Incredibles you mean? Was good, and yes Pixar don't seem to be able to do anything wrong, I'm especially looking forward to their parting with Disney to see what they do without being restricted by 'familyness'. I mean, who knows, maybe they'll do an adult animation?
I saw Me and You and Everyone We Know, and have to agree that it is going to be a long term favourite. (see the discussion thread for some words)
Also really enjoyed Young Adam, although haven't read the book.
I got bored during Land of the Dead, although there were some parts that were cool, I really wince at Dennis Hopper these days, he just seems so sad.
I didn't have a problem with Life Aquatic. I thought it was kinda cool.

Honestly I don't think I've seen enough new films this year to have a top ten.
