British Open Cost/Package

I have done the British Open the last several years and after competing in many other events across the world, this one is by far the worst as in what kind of package it offers.

From what i know, the price to enter is £25 for British and around £30 for other international competitors. This price only covers the entry fee to the tournament. In virtually every other tournament they have packages available which cost in the region of £100 to £150 which include bed and breakfast accomodation, transport from airport and also food vouchers for lunch and dinner.

I have worked out how much the tournament will cost for the average player who is on their own...
The cost of entry (£30), lunch and dinner for 4 days (£45), accomodation for 4 nights (£200). This in the end all adds up to £275...

Is the tournament organisation slacking in this area, because with flights and all it is pretty expensive and could end up preventing some of the best players in playing it?

It would be interesting to hear some decent productive feedback and thoughts on this subject!

Yeh fair point, it must cost a fortune to come to this tournament from abroad.

Its only the same when we travel abroad without a package, the belgium recently cost us nearly £1000.00 for 4 people with only 1 player but you have a choice, you either do the best comp in the world and pay for it or you don't!
