Mike Harris

Sounds like "spawn of kenneth" is probably Mike really.

I know he hits quite a few nicks but is his game is a bit volatile & immature? Do you think that he needs to develop a more mature & consistant game if he is to go further?

Hitting some outragous shots & nicks looks great but won't win tough matches against some people with a bit of experience.

What do others think?

Old Man vs Young Gun

June 11 2007, 10:11 AM

I heard that an old man with one leg can beat a player with a style like this!

His style is rubbish but he gets good results and then some strange ones. He will get to a certain point if he turns pro and then never get better. good to watch? yes. good player? not

sorry

I watched (Daddy) Harris play at the Weekend, he seems to have tempered his attacking instincts somewhat as I saw him play 5 Rallies and didnt go for a nick once. Having said that he got beat, so perhaps his old style would be better suited to the modern game.

Mr Potter,

Where did you see this exciting yet frustrating youngster play? Is there a website with results etc?

Re: Daddy Harris

It was in the National Cup Final at Wolverhampton. (Im actually quite surprised Squash site had no coverage). The National Cup is basically Champions League compared to FA Cup to use a Football analogy. I.e you need to win your County League to get to the finals rather than just put together a few superstars for about 5 matches to win the National Clubs.
Back to the action Daddy was playing 4 for Redwood Probuild ( Bristol) against Mathew Lowery (Wigginton). He was virtually unplayable for the first game but then seemed to run out of ideas and lost 3-1. Wigginton won the match 3/2 to be crowned National Champions.
Andy Whipp lost to Hadrian Stiff 3/0
Pete Billson Bt James Snell 3/0
Neil Cordell bt Peter Creed 3/2
Mat Lowery bt Mike Harris 3/1
Ian Tooms lost to Mike?

Point Proved

June 20 2007, 10:44 AM

Who is Mat Lowery? Not heard of him. How good is he?

I think my point has been proved with regard to Mike's style, he has the talent, the speed, the support and I think he has the drive/motivation, but does he have the temperment? Would he rather look good or win?

Someone wise once said "you have to win the ugly one's too". Perhaps Mike should think of changing his syle a little, to be a bit more consistant. Perhaps then, his results will be a bit more consistant too?

(I'm starting to sound like someone who know's what they're talking about, how strange!)

Hi Mike (spawn of kenneth),

Nice to see you are reading this forum!

Were you reffed out of it or did did you blow a gasket, running out of ideas, whilst visiting the tin too often?

Hi Old School,

Just to let you know Mike Harris is definitely not Spawn of Kenneth. Hes a Kid from Wigginton.
Not certain what to say about Mikes style seriously, He hits a few Nicks but gives away too many cheap points. But if hes on song hes unplayable.
Mat Lowery, plays Senior Counties for Derbyshire, very very fit, and aggressive, but often makes mistakes when going in short. Its either a disguised lob or in the tin.

Point proved again

So basically, if Mike has tempered his style slightly & played more consistantly, then he would have won his game and the match/tournament for his club?????

That's a bit harsh.

I think Daddy has the talent but just needs some guidance in using it better. He's athletic & keen and I am sure will keep moving forward with these attributes together with his current environment (Millfield etc).

He's still very young & has acheived an excellent standard for his age already.
Maybe an England under 19 cap coming his way next season? (good luck mate)

Keep it up Daddy and you might even beat me one day!

Skipper

i really hope england dont pick him as it would probably be their worst decision ever! he would be too much of a burdon. they will definately not pick him as he is not on any national squads = not interested

This is mike harris here,

mate of spawn of kenneth or whatever your name is, that is a tad harsh to say that about a fellow player even if you feel so strongly about the topic. i don't think anyone should be slagged off to that extent on this site. also, i was 2 in england at 13's, 2 in 15's, 3 in 17's and am currently 6 at 19's and haven't exactly had any shocking results for the past 6 months. who are you anyway? do you even watch any of the top players play or do you just slag of other players because you feel you cant compete with them.

Think about the feelings of others before you write your views

Harris out
