Response to Irresistable Grace - Is it a doctrine you profess?
NUCC>>
Hello Phil..
I don't believe we've ever talked before but I got your link from Sandy's forum.
You asked:
Is it a doctrine you profess?
Although I would consider myself a Calvinist, I consider myself a MODERATE Calvinist NOT a STRONG Calvinist."
Hello Nucc, Welcome to the board.
Nope, don't think we've ever communicated before.
Nice to hear from you.
Interesting contrast on the moderate vs the strong...

The difference I believe is in the area of free will choice. Where I agree with Calvinists is that it appears from Scriptures that God HAS HIS "OWN" SHEEP. I take this from John 10
John 10:3-5
3 The watchman opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.
4 When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice.
5 But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger's voice." (NIV)
From the context it shows there are MANY SHEEP in the pen and they ALL hear His voice BUT His call is to His OWN SHEEP. His own sheep follow Him because they RECOGNIZE His voice. They don't follow a stranger's voice because they are God's
So I agree with Calvinism in that according to this portion of Scripture His Word REVEALS that HE (God) has His own sheep."
Hey, I'm sure He does have His own sheep.
So does this mean that some of the sheep have the free will to choose to NOT be one of His sheep?
Just wondering... (I'm not too clear on the doctrine yet anyway)
Thanks for the post!
