I know you were attempting to express an understanding that we are supposed to be a light to this froward generation. And, I have to agree. Your explanation how Christ gave the OT folks a reflected light is interesting... Not trying to be disagreeable on this, so please dont take it that way.
My understanding is that Christ was that light then, and that He is that light now as well...
I believe that Yes. that light is to be within in us and is supposed to shine and not be placed under a bushel... but, I just can't see US being that light... I see it as "Christ in us" being that light.
That is our hope of glory...
Christ in us... If Christ IS in us, then He can still do the job of shining... unless we cover up that light and hinder it... God forbid!
Now, in this life, OUR LIGHT is supposed to be shining...
Mat 5:16 Let your light so shine before men,
that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Our "good works" in this life are supposed to be OUR LIGHT to others... so they will glorify the Father! I know that 'good works' are not so highly regarded by many.. but, IF we have them. they can be a light to others.
2Pe 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
That 'day star' is Christ and His light. There is coming a time when that day will dawn! Then, that light WILL SHINE in a very dark place: the heart of those who have never known Christ!
I believe that there is a time coming when WE will be a light to millions...
2Ti 2:12 If we suffer,
we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:
Rev 5:10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and
we shall reign on the earth.
There is coming a time when Christ shall reign on the earth. Those who are made a part of that Kingdom and Family, will reign with him... His light, and that of His brothers and sisters will then shine forth and be a guide to millions who never knew the way... I look forward to that Holy time...
