There are a lot of ideas out there.
One that puzzles me is the idea that people are already immortal.
No, not the physical body. Everyone knows that the body dies, so it can't possibly be immortal.
But then, there's the spirit, or the 'soul'.
We can see the physical body, but we can't see the spirit.
Spirit is invisible to human eyes.
Born of the flesh... If one is human, then, at some point in the past, they were born of the flesh.
Born of the spirit... if one is spirit, then, at some point it the past, they were born of the spirit.
Right?
No, not the body.. It dies... so the body could not be born of the spirit.
Ahh.. but the soul.... ?? But wait, it is ALREADY spirit!
Right? So, then, it too cannot be born of the spirit.. to become spirit!
This is getting a little confusing... maybe...
If the spirit, AKA soul, is already spirit, then why would it need to be 'born again'? It's already spirit!
And, most folks believe that it is already 'immortal'.
Really? Already?
In the midst of the Garden, God planted two particular TREES..
One, the infamous "Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil", and the other, the "Tree of Life".
If you are one who believes that the soul is, and always has been, immortal, then tell me... why did God plant the Tree of Life?
Do the Scriptures tell us what it was for? Do they describe it's function?
Can we READ and Learn what it's PURPOSE was ?
If you are in the mood for some Bible Study, and want to share your findings,
then please... Open the Book and go for it!
