Well, truly, the answer is NO. A Christian life is NOT in the flesh. Here's why... the Bible denies that a Christian's life is "in the flesh".. Yes.. we humans have to live this life here in this evil world, but the lives we live are supposed to be different... they are supposed to be a reflection of the GOD that we say we love... He is not concerned about the things of this life the way most human beings are... He has other fish to fry!! He has a Kingdom to bring here and set up... And that is way over and above anything in this life that we are involved in.
Bible proof is always good when making a statement, so here it is!

Rom 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Christians who live 'the Christian life' are not walking after the flesh.. the flesh is secondary and they depend heavily on the God of Creation to supply their needs, and to give them the FAITH they need to do that...
Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
This verse mentions TWO distinct and separate LAWS... most who claim Christ's Name today, have been led to believe that these two laws are one in the same! Most believe that if they strive to keep the LAW of God, that they are, somehow, BREAKING the law and actually sinning because they are trying to be righteous, instead of just relaxing and letting Jesus do all the work. That is a devilish lie!
Rom 8:3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
The flesh is always weak... the flesh is easily influenced and led astray... the LAW cannot make you righteous... unless you KEEP IT! Most people aren't interested in keeping ANY LAWS, especially the Law of God!! They just want to worship Him THEIR WAY and be left alone to do their own thing... But Jesus came here and LIVED the "Christian Life"... the real "Christian Life"... He KEPT the Law of His Father and obeyed perfectly... LEAVING US AN EXAMPLE!! One that the majority hate and simply REFUSE to FOLLOW... although they firmly insist that they ARE Following Christ! Confusion! Deception! That's what the majority of this fleshly life is made up of!
Rom 8:4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
I hear some who preach continually that we should just relax and let Christ do all the work of 'being righteous'... that we should just relax and let HIM bring forth His Righteousness in us, while we sit back and do virtually nothing... Bah! Humbug! More deception and confusion!
Rom 8:5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
This verse begins to make it plain! What are YOU after? The flesh and fleshly concerns?? People and companies that cheat and misuse you? People and circumstances that are evil to the core? Or, are you seeking God's Kingdom FIRST? As He said we should do, and depending on Him for the rest of the situation??
Rom 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Constantly worried about things of this life? Constantly angry at others for the way they treat you, instead of praying for them and loving them the way God said we should do? God's Way is better!! The yoke is easy and the burden is light!
Rom 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
The carnal, or fleshly mind is enmity against God... enmity is 'hostility'... The human, or fleshly mind is hostile toward God's Law and refuses to submit! It refuses to be subject to, and RULED BY the very standard that God's Coming Kingdom will be ruled by, and yet they say they want to be part of that Kingdom...??? The fleshly mind is not willing to be subject to that LAW... it can't be subject to that Law, because the fleshly mind is a product of the mind and attitude of the devil! He hates God's Law and he wants everyone else to hate it and reject it.. and most do... How do YOU feel about being RULED by the Law of God?? any hostility there?
Rom 8:8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
So, now we begin to get down to the answer I said was in your Bible... the one about the Christian life not being in the flesh... Please note verse 8: yes, we are all flesh beings, but verse eight is referring to our ATTITUDE... a fleshly attitude cannot and will not please GOD!! No way! He expects His Children to exhibit HIS ATTITUDE at all times!! Sadly, not many strive to do that... for the most part, it's always a fleshly attitude we see... one of REBELLION and contempt for the LAW and Rule of God!
Rom 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you.
READ THAT AGAIN! ROY... DO YOU BELIEVE THE BIBLE???
"But ye are NOT IN THE FLESH..." The "Christian Life" is more.. it is NOT IN THE FLESH!! Not with a fleshly, or carnal attitude!! True Christians are striving to OVERCOME the flesh and all it's downward pulls... they are busy everyday, striving to grow in grace and knowledge of Jesus and to strive to be like Him...especially to be like Him in how they think and live their lives! They are striving to reject the fleshly, carnal way of life and to follow Christ's example of how a True Christian should live!!
Continuing Verse 9:"... Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. "
True Christians WANT to live a different kind of life- they WANT and DESIRE to live their lives as Jesus did... Christ KEPT THE LAW... HE OBEYED HIS FATHER and HE WAS RIGHTEOUS!!! Keeping the Law of God IS RIGHTEOUSNESS.. Jesus was tempted to disobey His Father... He was tempted "in all points"... ALL TEN! But He never gave in and He never sinned!! Today, the modern 'church' teaches that we don't have to keep or obey any laws... especially the Sabbath Command... in their rebellion, they have substituted another day... the 'day of the sun'... they are breaking the law.. they are sinning... are you? Do you submit to that Holy, Just and Good Law, or do you refuse to submit? It's time you thought about it!! Your LIFE could hang in the balance!
Rom 8:10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
Christians... real Christians... they strive to live their lives 'in the Spirit'... not in the flesh.. they strive to rise above the mundane and carnal things of this life... they strive to kill 'the old man' daily and to live their lives as the 'new Creature' they want to be... that "New Creature in Christ"!
But, we are still mortal..still flesh and we die! All of us... and, IF we expect to be 'raised up', then there has to something different about us.. We have to have that Spirit dwelling in us! and IF we REFUSE to OBEY and SUBMIT to Him and His LAW... His Ruler ship in our lives, then we have no hope, because HE ONLY GIVES THAT SPIRIT TO THEM THAT OBEY HIM. PERIOD! Do you want to be in that kingdom? Do you want to be there... "when the Saints go marching in"...?? Really?
Then it's time to put the flesh aside and seek His forgiveness of sins and His Holy Spirit.
No, you don't already have it, unless you are submitting to His LAW... (ALL TEN POINTS)... and His rule in your life... the devil has DECEIVED the Whole World to think that whatever they want to do, is alright with God... To think that they can worship Him any way they please, and still PLEASE HIM.
WRONG!
Rom 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
The only way to be in that Kingdom is to seek Him and His Spirit!! To begin to live the true Christian Life... in the Spirit... Not in the flesh!!
