Eph 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
Eph 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Eph 6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Eph 6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
Eph 6:15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Eph 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
Eph 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
And, why would a Christian actually need to wear armor??
Because, in this world, Christians are under constant attack!
So, 'tis good for a Christian to always put on, and wear the Armor of God!
But, what if a Christian doesn't put on that armor?? What then?
I was told once that a Christian shouldn't have to wear armor around other Christians... In fact, the person I was conversing with, actually 'took offense' at my suggesting that they needed to put on that armor so that they would not be so easily offended. <<shakin my head>>
Friends, God has provided that armor to protect!!!! He gives it to His children so they will not be hurt by the fiery darts of the wicked. So they will be safe and protected from the attacks that satan and his demons are constantly mounting against them!
And, just wearing part of the armor isn't good enough!! Leaving off one piece of the armor exposes you to the enemy! That's why it says in verse 13, above, "...take unto you the whole armour of God"
Do things others say and write offend you? Hurt you? Better check your armor!! Do the things others believe and post upset you and make you angry? Better check your armor!
Here on Phil's Place, you will find much that doesn't fit in with what I call the "standard answer"... It is and will be unorthodox... So, remember, you are welcome to read and comment... just don't let anything you find here... offend you. If it does, maybe it's time to check your armor!
May God bless us all as we study His Holy Word!

You know Phil, in reading those scriptures, there is so much more to what they are actually saying, I have come to see anyway, that we often realize. In other words, do we really have that armour on. Because if we do, then nothing can really touch us can it? At least nothing that God does not allow to touch us, which has to be something for our own benefit if it does. But than often we would like to admit anyway, it is because we don't have that armour on somewhere, having slipped in doing so to begin with.
luv ya in Christ,
Sandy
Wherefore the rather, brethren give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall. (2nd Pet. 1:10)

Hello Sandy! It may be that many don't think about that armor at all... satan has a way of filling our lives with so many obstacles and entanglements, that keeping our minds focused and our thoughts in subjection, often takes a back seat to the problems of the moment. We simply forget.. we get caught up in this life and forget... or, as you say, "...we don't have that armour on somewhere, having slipped in doing so to begin with." We might have on part of it, and forget to put on the rest... The devil is an enemy who never sleeps and his focus and purpose is to destroy and hinder in any way he can. Yes, God will protect His children, but sometimes He does allow us to be tried.. a firey dart is a good reminder, eh?
Then too, I've considered the very concept of armor.. it is to protect various parts of our body... in today's world... the 'bullet proof vest' is a good example... as it turns out, that vest DOES offer a measure of life-saving protection... unless, the attacker has access to 'armor-piercing' rounds... I think we should also consider the condition of our armor as well as being sure to put it on... a shield not maintained, is no shield at all... and a firey dart left in, will be even hotter when you put on your armor.. Do you know what I'm talking about?
Not sure if I'm expressing it very well...
Hmmm. About the fiery dart being left within the armour of God, I am not sure that is possible, if I am understanding what you saying correctly. Because if we have the armour on, the fiery dart cannot be within it.
I say that because of what Jesus said in Mt.23:
25-28.
Just read it real slowly, consider what He is saying there to begin with.
luv ya in Christ,
Sandy
Wherefore the rather, brethren give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall. (2nd Pet. 1:10)
Mat 23:25 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.
Mat 23:26 Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.
Mat 23:27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.
Mat 23:28 Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
It doesn't mention either the armor OR the firey dart...
