A few months back, I asked this Question:
Free from the Law?
What can that terminology really mean? I've seen different ways of explaining it...
Here is one:
Sandy>>"Yes, we who are "in Christ" and also have Christ within us are set free from the law.
But first you have to understand what being under the law means to begin with."
Indeed... we must understand that... but, alas, there are many different "understandings".
Sandy," Those that are under the law have to obey something in order not to break that law, right?"
The answer is... Yes... and No!
To properly understand it, consider: There are actually TWO WAYS of being "under the law"
A) Under the AUTHORITY of the law.
We are ALL under the authority of the law. Those that are "under the AUTHORITY of the LAW", have to Obey or KEEP that law in order not to break it!
[Most will not agree, but that is the truth!]
The other way of being "under the law" is...
B) Under the PENALTY of the LAW.
Those that are 'under the law' have already BROKEN that law! In this case, they are 'under the law'... in other words, they are "under the PENALTY of the law"... because they failed to keep it! They Broke it... they became 'transgressors', and transgressors of the law are SINNERS! (1 John 3:4)...
All those who refuse to be under the AUTHORITY of the Law, will be under it's PENALTY.
That penalty is death...
Two different ways of being "under the law"...
Those who realize that they are sinners and who repent of their sins, will be brought under the GRACE of God.. Those who REFUSE to obey, will not be under GRACE, but will be condemned, awaiting the penalty of the law!
Satan and his ministers teach the exact opposite! THEY SAY that if you KEEP the LAW, you are fallen from Grace! Truth is, just the opposite. Please pray about this and ask God for a clear understanding.
