may ask you regarding the KJV ....about the Pascha/Passover vs. Easter issue......which they KJV translators obviously mis-translated...?
I agree that the KJV is the least problematic translated Bible...but for an unbeliever who would ask you....isn't one error enough?...if not...how many errors does it take for a work to show that it is nlot divinely inspired?
And I sincerly say I am not trying to b e contentious in the 'way' I am asking this...I really would like to know your beliefs and how you would respond on this matter.
Gerard,"I agree that the KJV is the least problematic translated Bible...but for an unbeliever who would ask you....isn't one error enough?...if not...how many errors does it take for a work to show that it is nlot divinely inspired?"
The only thing I know to do is just tell them the truth...
God issued a warning that nothing should be added or taken away, and like always, some of the men who were to do the translating, decided that they knew better and included some of their 'understanding'... plus, humans do make mistakes..
It's been that way from the beginning and will be that way until the Lord returns and fixes the problem. Gerard, people just believe what they want to believe.. unless the Eternal is calling them and working with them, they just do what they want, and believe what they want... We can't change that.. only God can... and one day, He will.
Hope that brief answer is sufficent, that's really all I know to say on that. :)
first... your answer is of course well said and accurate...
but...what if an unbeliever....or what I call a sneaky peek unbeliever...who is trying to see what real christianity is all about....asked us this.....
now wouldn't the answer you gave.....prompt a person like this to say....'well it sounds like the Bible cannot be trusted...how am i suuposed to know where there is error in translation or when it is legit'??
Couldn't they argue that one has be an expert to know G-d's truth????
Now...I do not believe any of the above...but I could see this being asked to me and honestly.....outside of what you said....haha but less well said though....I don't know how to give them something they could say....'well, that is a good possible way for me to escape any erros...etc'....
i don't even know if there is a good answer....THE answer may be....that if G-d wants someone to know His truth and they seek dilligently and with prayer and supplication they will find what they seek....
dunno....may be I already have the answer and don't know it??????
I would appreciate more input if you have time my firend.
Gerard, I really don't have much to add... If thay are into arguing, then they will argue, no matter what you tell them..
We can not convince anyone of anything... only god can do the convincing...
Gerard, " Couldn't they argue that one has be an expert to know G-d's truth????"
Yes, they could... and I could argue that God can reveal His truth to anyone He pleases no matter what their scholarly abilities or the lack there of...
If a person has to be an expert, then how was Christ able to reveal the truth to those few He called as disciples?
They weren't experts...
When people ask questions like that, all we can do is tell them the truth and let God take it from there.
