I have been told since my car is a S code w/ auto that it is a gta. This car was very orig when i got it. No gt gas cap, no gta emblem on the fender. Just says mustang on the fender w/ 390 above the pony. Has super delux int over head and floor console. Just got it back from the paint shop in the orig white. Looking for some help before putting it together if it is a gta or not? Door tag is 63B M 6A 167 22 I U. Vin 7to2S299943. Any help would be great. Thank you.

No your car is most probably not a GTA Best way to tell is if you have original fenders, you would find the holes in them where the original emblem was located. In 1967 and 1968 it is very difficult to tell an orignal GT from a dealer optioned GT to somone putting some of the GT stuff on after the fact. Factory GT's came in all V8 engine options.
What you have is a very nicely optioned S coded cars that has a few of the items that a true GTA would have had.
Tells on a factory GT optioned car. Deluxe interior, Fog lights (Pay attention to the fog light switch and wireing), Duel exaust cut outs on the rear pan, Disk brakes, flip down GT gas cap, and if you have original fenders a big tell is the holes that can be found where emblems are located. If you have GT emblems and holes had been filled where others were most probably it is not a GT. If you have other emblems with no GT nor holes where emblems would be, then it is not a GT or GTA.

i am cosidering buying a fast back i always wanted one as a child this guy is asking 2 grand it seems cheap but it is rough no front clip 1/4 are shot and he says rear frame rails need attension no motor no trans rest of car is there but needs attension i dont mind all that but is there any other way of telling if in fact it is a true scode gta? like stamping on the fire wall or inside the radio ? please let me know if you know i dont want my dream car to be another stang thank you shaun nelson

It's not a gt, that's cool, I own the same car exept mine has the 4 speed manual trans and is Highland Green. Non Gt is better in my opinion,they called them sleepers. Much more rare and bring the same money.
