|| There she sat, tears pouring down her cheeks, in the hall of the hospital, she had started crying in the room but the doctors mentioned maybe she should step out for a moment and gather herself. She hated watching Chance lay there. Why wasn't he awake to protect her? She was afraid that maybe her mother knew about the pregnancy and she shuddered and whimpered, looking about wildly for a moment hearing her mother's voice, she tried to remain calm as her mother approached her. Her mother just looked at her like she usually did, without much care and walked into the room past Pat.
She leaned her ear against the door and listened to her talking to the doctors, just there to check on him, and then she opened the door and brushed past Patreece with "Be home by dinner," and she was gone. That was it. That was truly the extent of her mother really caring. She crossed her arms, she wanted to run and scream through the hallway. She wanted everyone to know she shot up heroin, that she was pregnant, a statistic. She wanted to shove all her shame onto her father's name, she wanted them to be ashamed. She wanted them to suffer too, if only they would really care that it was their little girl in trouble. Instead of her pregnancy being an accident, a mishap, a travisty, a blemish to the name that they'd try to fix. At any cost, they were rich after all. All the reason for her to keep it a secret from them. She didn't want to be shipped off to a baby place and be forced to give it up to a couple that weren't even there for the morning sickness, the pregnancy, the pain. Fuck them all. She had Chance, and that was that, and the few at the highschool who suddenly seemed to be watching out for her and Chance. Tony had wandered off to get himself a girlfriend. That in itself hurt her through to her backbone, making her weak and want to crumble to the floor. She just wanted to take everything back and be back to being the rich little quiet girl that her parents didn't mind.
