Response to Stocks

Grading is usually done by the seller. Some wood may look really nice but not finish well and checkers even worse. If it is has tight grain, checkers well, is free from defects and looks really nice it's sold by dollar amount not grade. A piece of fast grown Claro may look really wild but may be 1/3 the price of a average piece of English because it won't finish, checker or retain any of it's value on a high grade custom rifle. It will actually bring a rifles value down and make it unsellable to someone that actually knows what they are looking at. Maccari goes by grades but typically charges way less than what I've seen coming from someone that sells blanks for high grade stocks for firearms.
