I am SWM who works and lives in the Chicagoland area. I see women of all ages with beautiful long hair, every day, on my train ride in to the city. There is a clerk at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange who wears her beautiful hair, to her knees. Don't be pressured into doing something you do not want to do. Long hair is very individual, very feminine, and very beautiful.
