I have had long hair most of my life...maybe I can offer some suggestions. Is your hair getting tangles wet or dry? What kind of brush do you use? Is your hair very fine? How do you wear your hair on a regular basis?
If I get a tangle I try a comb, using the end to work out the big knot. If it is really bad you might try conditioner mixed with water and put in right on the knot, then detangling. I always have used a wire type brush with roung plastic ends for everyday brushing. You cant skip over any knots with this type of brush, like a plastic or bristle may do.
But I find that a good conditioner after shampooing is the key to having long healthy hair. It detangles the hair and you don't need to rip out knots!
My daughter has fine hair(unlike mine) and her hair gets more knots. But I found that she was not combing thru her hair, and only skimming over the top, which left huge knots! Now we both use the same brush and conditioner. Can I name the brand? ends with the word "silk".
