dickweed/rigg3d,
I'm not posting this to bash Icey or anything, I just want an opinion from peeps who are into breaks. What is YOUR opinion of Icey live? I've seen him two or three times now and think he's another one of my top worst live big-name DJs. Every time I've heard him, he's been lame. Does he sound good to people who are into breakbeats? Do you have to have a special appreciaion for that genre? Or is he really just bad? Anyway, if you're looking for breaks in DC, rigg3d, you're not going to find many. Up here it's pretty much all trance and jungle with a smattering of underground house in the smaller clubs. Also, I'm just curious to know if Florida was the birthplace of breakbeat? Is that Florida's indigenous dance music, along with Miami Bass? Because everyone I meet or chat with from Florida sweats breaks, while not that many other people I know are all that excited by them.
And breaks have been popular in FL for what seems like Forever. I remember reading an article in some magazine about Firestone (Orlando) from quite a few years ago and it was saying breakbeats were popular. Just curious.
