We need an equal amount of "leaving the cave" and staying in the cozy bottom of the cave. Robert pirsig talks about static quality and dynamic quality. static quality is the cozy bottom or the foundation that we build on. We need that foundation or the things we build fall over. Dynamic quality is the change or the enlightenment part that we also need or else everything stays the same forever. we would never be rid of racism or sexism or any other -ism without dynamic quality. So we need both or we miss out on experiencing our lives to the fullest extent. Too much enlightenment leads to the tendency to analyze things and not experience them and possibly insanity. Too much comfort leads to laziness and ignorance.
