Could one of the prisoners ever be a puppet master?

If one of the prisoners escaped, became enlightened, and knew all about the cave, etc., would there be any interest within him to become a puppet master on the wall? Where would this interest stem from? Could he possibly want to create the shadows for the others in the hopes that he could slowly bring them to enlightenment without just trying to tell them right off the bat? Would he honestly want to play along with the game when he knows it distorts the truth?
