I'm no philosophy student but could you be talking about how reality is viewed as relative and one's perception of reality is thought to be determined by their state of consciousness? I believe it's important to uncover one's beliefs that create our reality, i.e., the cave dwellers believed that the shadows were reality because they were constrained. The question should be, I would think, are those constraints mental, or physical for them? Self imposed, or deterministically imposed upon them?

Just my two cents. Sorry if I'm hogging this forum, but I love this site!!
