Response to Education, learning, and teaching

Plato and Socrates view education, teaching, and learning as the passageway between the divided line from this realm to the realm of Forms. The feel that education is in a sense the road to enlightenment and truth. The also viewed learning not really as learning but as remembering what we already know. They believed in reincarnation of the soul and that when in a new life the soul enters the body their is a sort of shock which makes us forget all we have learned in our past lives. Socrates method of questioning his pupils (the Socratic Method) was meant to provoke his students to recall all this they have forgotten. Socrates and Plato believed that we have all skills available to us, playing the violin, mathematics, skiing etc. it is just all a matter of us remembering that we in fact have these skills.
I hope this helps. Good luck in all things.

-Platonia
