Response to American swastikas in WW1

The original unit insignia of the US army's 2nd Infantry Division was a swastika, which was a traditional native American symbol. It was changed to it's current "Indianhead" design following the adoption by the Nazi Party of the swastika symbol. It is a shame that a symbol, which for centuries had been a symbol of good luck, has been tainted by its co-option by the Nazis.
