Hyvinkää and the neighbouring Riihimäki were (and are) important railway points. So there was built an airfied to Hyvinkää to have a fighter cover for the railtransport. In 1941 there was a squadron of Fokker D.XXI fighters
for some months. In autum 1944 there was number of Messerschmitt Bf-109 fighters, as to protect Helsinki for expected German bombings (after Finland switched side).
