  • Tiiksjärvi, part 1/2

      Hans,

Sorry about the delay. I expected someone else with more insight into the history of the FAF to answer, but didn't want you to wait too long.

Tiiksjärvi airfield was in Maaselkä and it was the only airfield in a very large area. This is why the location was very problematic, i.e. it was constantly under attack of Soviet bombers and attack aircrafts.

It was used from October 1941 to September 1944.

At least LLv 14 (Recon) and 2nd/LLv 24 used the field. I don't know, if there were any other squadrons. I am collecting data for a graphical presentation of how the squadrons used different airfields in Winter & Continuation War. I try to publish it on-line before the end of the year at the neglected Combat section of my Site.

But I try to come up with a list of the squadrons that used the Tiiksjärvi airfield and the dates, when they used it. Just wait for a few days

      Pentti
