      Hello mate,
The treatment protocal varies according to the condition.
Without sciatica also there are so many of causes for LBA
How long he is suffering with that?
Any occupational Hazards which lead to LBA.

We need to have differential diagnosis first.
For simple low back pain(most of the cases) the rest is enough with spinal curvatures in normal positions. If it is mild ask him to have icepack which reduces spasam, there by with rest it will become normal.
Then concentrate for muscle strengthening ,don't neglect flexor muscle stregthening.Programme in such way that he won't get stress with exercise.
SWD and IRR are not evidence based although with deep heat it subsides a little.Use TENS with trail and eror method find out accurate positioning of electrodes.Evaluate it change the treatment if necessary.

      Regards,
      Thota
