Carb problems with my Nordwest 600 - help!!

by

Sorry, I forgot to mention before my bike´s make and model - Nordwest 600 '92

I recently broke my timing belt and went on to replace it, along with valves and the whole works (while we were at it) once we finally received the parts from Piaggio Spain (by the way, I live in Madrid, Spain).

After mounting the whole thing back, we noticed we gained a lot of compression, but also, some problems between 3.500 - 4.500 rpm with the carburator! Before and after that, it works fine - but its sputters a lot in that range.

My mechanic has gone mad with it and it´s 4 different settings and seems to be at a stoping point with it - he can´t get any parts or decent help with Piaggio since it is a discontinued model and doesn´t know what else to try. Eventually, he´ll need gaskets, but we are considering a new carb or a replacement for it in order to have the bike running correctly again.

Has anyone ever suffered problems like that?
Is it true that yamaha´s XT600 carb is the same?
Where could I get parts/new carb?
Has anyone any idea of what I could try?

I am running desperate after a whole month and a half with out my bike...

Thanx in advance for any help/coments on the matter

Help - 1952 Gilera Tursimo 150 motor

by adam

I am restoring a '52 Gilera 150 Tursimo (stamped forks), in the diagram for the motor I have it shows an odd single washer that goes between the head and barrel. I can't understand what it is or what it does. If anyone has rebuilt one of these motors, please help! Any suggestions? Thanks

124 Gilera Side Cover??

by

Hey Everyone,

I am new to this forum, and in fact I am new to Gilera Motorcycles. I work in a Harley Davidson shop in Atlanta and I am restoring a Sears bike for my father. We have been doing some research and I am pretty certain that the bike is a 124 Gilera, although I was originally told it was a benelli and then told it was a Puch. I have pictures of it if anyone would like to see it. I am curious to know what these bikes are worth in good condition. Also, there only seems to be one part missing from the bike. That is the Side Cover on the engine. If anyone has one of these for sale or knows a good source, I would be interested. Feel free to email me with offers, questions or picture requests. Please put something about Motorcycles or Gilera in the title so I don't delete it because I get a lot of junk mail.
Thanks.
-Andy

Gilera 124 Strada

by

Hi,

I own and ride a 124 Gilera, live in Ohio, and would love to see a picture of your bike. I can't tell you the value, but I do know they are different from theSears version, and are fairly rare. I do have a few NOS parts, and know of people that also have spares. My bike is a head turner and I havea few others, but I enjoy the Gilera the most. Thanks Charlie

Old Gilera Manuals

by

I have a copy of a 1957 175 Sport workshop manual in Italian, and a 1957 175 Sport Owners manual in English.

I have put both on a CD and would be happy to send them to anyone needing them for just the cost of a CD and postage.

The 175 motor (not the Extra) is virtually the same as the older 125s and 150s, so a lot of the information is useful for a lot of years and a lot of bikes.
