The flood

Hi Char,

First off, let me state clearly that there was no global flood. If there had been we'd see evidence of it. But beyond not seeing evidence for a global flood in the geologic column, we also see evidence that disproves the flood.

You've caught onto one of the things that disproves a global flood. Kangaroos. There's an entire ecosystem in Australia that exists no place else. If these creatures had been on the ark then we'd see them all over the place from the middle east to Australia as they would have left traces of their migration. But, several members of this group can't have made the migration.

Koala bears for instance, only eat Eucalyptus leaves. In fact, they get their water from these leaves as well, so they couldn't have lasted for a year on the ark where there are no sources of fresh leaves.

The concept of "kinds" is also mistaken. We can trace lineages thru DNA and find no such common ancestors. Although the creationist that insists upon "kinds" also admits to evolution, just as you pointed out.

I can go on about how the ark wasn't possible to build from wood, how the creatures couldn't have survived for a year, how the fish couldn't survive the mixing of salt and fresh water... The story of Noah and the ark is not able to be taken literally.
