when i was younger i used to wear a poppy like you, to remember those who were brave and gave their lives. In answer to your question, im old enough to remember family members who died and were wounded in the 2nd world war in the belief they were fighting "the last war", so that future generations didnt have to suffer the same fate. And yet here we are again.
And on the contrary, wearing a poppy is indeed supporting the leaders/establishment and encouraging them in their neverending war agenda. I know a few war veterans and can assure you none of the money you give goes to them. Yet all the generals and war leaders are rolling in money. Funny that, eh? Same as all the soldiers coming back from Iraq get naff all support or money for their trauma or wounds. The poppy is a symbol that you support the blood sacrifice and the system that feeds off it and depends on it and its your misguided support that keeps it going. A pretence at respectability and respect, but a sinister, unspoken support for war. Maybe you do it with good intention, but you need to wake up to the truth.
If people really wanted to genuinely remember and respect those who died in the wars, there'd be no more war.
and ps
the first and second world wars are shrouded in some sort of romantic, heroic glow, as if they were wars worth fighting. They werent - they were highly organised for years in advance by a powerful elite who programme us with their own warped version of history. Mass murder for mass profit. Just arranged to financially benefit the few and create a power structure for future wars. And tell me, in the last 70 years, how many countries have threatened to invade us? Not a single one, yet here we are, still at war. Wake up kid, it might be you next.
