My thoughts exactly!
The core of this hobby is to reconstruct in scale a copy of the original subject.
Now, where does it say that we have to accept things not being entirely correct then?
But let me first say, the latest kits by DML are outstanding, superd, the best yet and are the dogs bollocks compared to anything else.
The replacement for the aging Tamiya 88, the next level of the Tigers, the Pz IV E, all will rank up there for years to come as "The best ever" or at least "The kits that changed the industry".
Like the Tamiya Tiger-E late did, remember.
Who of you still regards that one as the best? Who of you will splash out more cash to get a kit, with a symetrical turret, no PE, no interior bits and only 1 version in the box?
Some say we have become spoiled, I say humbug to that.
We have become more critical, we have become even more detail-minded.
And why? Because the level of detail in the kits has SUDDENLY taken such leaps forward.
Now we know what can be done. And considering the prices, unless DML has accepted to run a loss on each kit, the production costs must be equal to the older kits. Although that sounds strange, but we have not seen a price-tag the same as a Tamiya kit on a present DML kit.
To all those nay-sayers about people with a great eye for detail, don't you also say :"Tom Jentz, your work is a waste of time" or "David Byrden, why bother?" or "Tom Cockle, we don't care about your work looking for detail".
Because, by your saying, it it looks like it, it is good enough.
No, I say.
It is the core of our hobby to make it a perfect copy, in scale. If it looks like it, why bother with PE and Resin sets?
