Response to If it LOOKS Like a Pz IV then it must be a Pz IV ????

Like a lot of other people I am still looking forward to getting the new Dragon pz IV and may some day get round to building it. I already have the Tristar ausf D and am looking forward to building that. I have also read many posts on both of these kits, with anything from exasperation to interest. What really interests me is whether any consensus is arising as to what tweaks may be necessary on the kits, such as the glacis plate on the front of the DML ausf E. This seems to be a bit out and most people agree it should be amended. There has been much discussion on the engine deck hinges on the Tristar ausf D, which to me seem to match the Panzer Tracts drawings.

David Byrden has done excellent work in collating all the tweaks necessary for the tigers, so is anyone doing similar for the pz IVs? (I have neither the resources nor ability, so am not volunteering, sorry guys) I would have thought there may be errors that need changing and those which may reflect discrepencies with manufacturing differences and then those where source references may be in error. So is anyone following all the information on these tweaks, who is going to list them in an easy to see compendium.

Finally I would say that those people trying to attain perfection are helping us all to raise our standard of modelling, those critisising the rivet counters also have many valid points but are mainly involved in the philosophy of modelling, and possibly less in the act of medelling itself.

(finally, finally, anyone got the definitive view on the tristar hinges?)

Ross
