Response to Panzer IV suspension caps

Huge thanks for this interest and research.

The point I want to establish is whether there is any link to date of production, type or ausf. of vehicle, or factory of manufacture. Naturally, the overall picture will be clouded by retro-fitted replacements on early vehicles, but it seems odd that there are several versions of this plate provided in kits, with no indication of the most appropriate plate to fit to the model.

From your research, an early indication suggests that the first type on your list is most common on surviving vehicles, and does, at least, appear on a ausf.D vehicle, suggesting tentatively an early time-frame.

Since we corporately know so staggeringly much about panzers in general, I'm mildly surprised that no immediate answer has come from the guys on this site. Ever more to learn!
