Response to I always thought................

Panthers were repaired and some times a different Ausf * turret was mated to chassis. I have seen an Ausf G wearing a Ausf D turret with the trash can commander's hatch. The maintenance section could pull a good turret off a damaged chassis and use it to get one of two vehicles back on line and out for comabt.
