I think it is......

If I'm not mistaken Patbon mentions company details on HJ pz4's at carpiquet. I'd have to check to be sure but IIRC 9th co was involved in the defense of the airport. Can't say much more on this as I've never really looked in to the events around the airport, yet.....

difficult to be sure......

I have just read the pages in Patbon covering the period when Carpiquet fell and if I got it right, that happened on the 7/8th of July. The problem is that information on the Co's at that time is not really available in the book. On several places the books mentions 9th co Pz4's being assigned to defend the airfield/keep an eye on things. From the book I understand that in the final days of June the other Pz4 co's were located more to the west/south west. From were they had to deal with the Epsom offensive. On July 4th 9thCo elements were again defending Carpiquet against the Canadians. On July 8th 12SS faced operation Charnwood to the north (east) of Carpiquet. 9th Co had several panzer 4's on the eastern limits of the airport. By then the airport had already fallen. 5th Co was in action around Buron, and 7th had been withdrawn to rest. No info about 6th and 8th co. Personally I don't think they were involved in the fighting for Carpiquet. I presume these Co's were in position to the North of Caen with the other Co's.

As the information I have is far from complete I can't be sure about the actions around Carpiquet. However only one Co is mentioned, several times, as defending the airfield. Based on this I would say the only safe thing to do is to model a 9th Co panzer. I haven't found any evidence of 6th or 8th Co being in action at Carpiquet, sorry

Hope this helps.

about the other'S

Hello.

Niels, you are right about the 9./SS-PzRgt. 12 for that time frame. They had about 5 to 10 Pz IV's at the airfield.
The other companies, the 6. and 8., however, were in positions at the direct western citiy limits of Caen to be able to react on an British-Canadian attack along the Route National Bayeux-Caen. That's what I got out of Patbon and Hubert Meyer's book about the Division.

How is that decal sheet by Bison? Are there any further details about it?Pics?

My 2 euro-cents, hopefully it helps.
