Guys,

I`ve just received the new Zvesda BMW R-12 - which looks very nice indeed ( even when compared to the excellent - but pricey - SWASH R-12 ) however when compared to the Swash kit it appears that Zvesda have missed some parts from the kit - can any knowledgable "biker" please tell me what they are ?

TIA

Stirl

Hi Guys,

A friend of mine is a real expert on the R12.

His website is full of details and info on this machine from the perspective of owners and restorers.

Zvesda BMW R-12 ?

July 4 2009, 9:17 PM

Hi Stirl,

Yes, the battery is missing (square item) but the other part is an air filter intake which is included in the kit. The Swash item is a little too far forward, the filter on the Zvesda kit is the small round part behind the starter lever.

Full review just posted;

Cheers

Zvesda BMW R-12 ?

July 5 2009, 8:48 AM

Many thanks gentlemen !

I had a sneaking suspicion that what I was reffering to were indeed the battery & air filter ( honest ! ) excellent review Terry - this kit is great news indeed for anyone looking for a "Blitzkrieg" era German motorcycle combo ( or solo ) it`s also good news for anyone hoping to build a Condor Legion combo too ( as these were used in Spain 1936-9 ) hopefully it might be possible to use part of the Royal Models etch set designed for the DKW NZ 350 regarding the wheel spokes - maybe !

Regards

Stirl

Im sure since the kit is half way decent someone will make a dedicated etch/detail set for it...

..we won`t have to wait too long for an etch set for the kit - in the meantime here are a few photos of the R-12 taken in Spain during the civil war :-
