Looking to see how the fighting compartment was laid out.

Top views of Sd.Kfz.250/10 Ausf.B

July 5 2009, 7:01 AM

Top views of any vehicle are rare. I have never seen one of the Sd.Kfz.250/10 Ausf.B but I think you could use the layout for the Sd.Kfz.250/10 Ausf.A shown in Hilary Doyle's drawings in Panzer Tracts No.15-1

well my concern..no thinking was this.

I just saw on here within the last week or so, someone building a 250/8 and removing the radio position of the 250 for a Ammo locker, and I was wondering if the 250/10 might have had a similar setup.

radio location

July 5 2009, 3:33 PM

While being no expert in the insides of the SdKfz 250, I noticed that some vehicles had the radio antenna at the front, close to the pak

... while others have the radio antenna at the back. May it be that these vehicles have the radio relocated to the pak to enable stioorage of ammo in the front?

ammunitionload

July 7 2009, 3:34 AM

If my sources are correct, then 216 rounds were carried. This would mean that they would have to store 18 boxes (12 rounds each) into that vehicle.
That would leave very little space for anything else.
Looking at the pictures I see a crewmember sitting in the rear at the driversside, but I also see crew standing on the passengerside next to the gun.
I have no idea how large the crew was, but Im guessing it would be 3.

I ran into the same kind of problem looking at the 250/8 and I came up with a interior layout that would seem to fit better than what I saw so far.
In this I moved the ammolocker into the right front, instead of the seat. The radio was moved to the leftside, just behind the driversseat. For the crew I added 2 foldable seats.
This way the original locker in the right rear could be maintained in order to stow vehicle- and crewgear.

Here's my halftrackforum:

How did the 251/10 stow it's ammo for it's PaK might give a little more insight into the 250/10...always been kinda sad to see DML never make a 250/10 or 250/7 Neu in their le SPW lines...or a "green stripe" kit of the old 250/5

as for the 250/10, 216rds is what I've come about to see as the norm loadout..plus MG rounds for a rear swivel mounted AA, which I haven't seen installed but figure since it's a universal mount for the 250 it could have been added or deleted by the need of the crew.
