Hello Folks!
Im trying to find out which Dragon Tiger I kit is best for Black 411 seen in several publications, namely Jean Restayn's Tiger I on the Eastern Front pages 96 and 98.
This Tiger I 411 is shown in March of 1943 during LAH's training period before combat later that year.
I assume I should get the Tiger Initial kit yes?

Thanks fellas!

Brandon S.

No good candidate...

It's a December 1942 or January 1943 build, and the closest kit from Dragon/CH is the Afrika Tiger CH6286.jpg. Obtaining that may prove expensive. Tamiya have a similar kit; TAM35227.jpg.

But those kits build Tigers a few months older than "411", so you will need a few extra parts; notably the escape hatch and a set of S-mines. Really, this isn't a simple conversion.

Thanks David happy.gif

I didnt think there was a kit out there that would have everything inside the box to complete this one. But the fact the Afrika Tiger I is as close as I cvan get, I got 7 different kits from both Dragon and Tamiya plus some aftermarket stuff to use that may get me where I need for this Tiger I.
My initial research several years ago placed this Tiger I's production in Late December 1942, Early January 1943. At the time, I didnt know the Serial number of this Tiger I and still dont know. Good to know this has the escape hatch. The S-mines I can get for the hull from my spares and aftermarket I have obtain over the years. I just wanted to be sure of the time it was built so I can build my example based on that as the four photographs of this Tiger I does not give me all I need.

Best Regards,
Brandon S.

Tiger 411.....

I have built this tiger, though it is sitting idle in grey paint at the moment. I'm making mine as 1315 during Kursk.

I used the CH Tunisian kit along with Voyager pe and my own make for the side skirts, since no one makes them in pe!!. Like David said, you will need either of those kits, PLUS a turret half and round hatch from either a Dragon kit or a Tamiya kit (depending on which maker you choose). The pe will fill in the missing stuff such ****-mines.

The forum software looks at the mention of S-mines, and thinks that you wrote Ay Ess Ess.

Even more ridiculous...

Even more ridiculous, because as we all know an ***** is merely a subgenus of Equus, and includes the donkey and such like...only in the USA does it seem to refer to one's posterior region in a somewhat vulgar form!
