Calling all tow cable experts...

June 6 2017, 7:32 PM

These are the "initial" Tiger cables, as far as I can see in photos;

They have different proportions to your parts, especially the relative lengths of the sleeve and eye.
I wonder if I got it wrong, or did Eureka get it wrong, or did we both get it wrong?

The drawing is not quite right

Between the sleeve and the eye the rope folds back onto itself so it would be an 8 shape in cross-section there. There are some ropes that had spliced eyes but these usually didn't have sleeves.

Also, wire rope in these sorts of applications is normally hexagonal in cross-section shape rather than circular. At least in American practice, rope diameter is measured across the corners, not across the flats, as would be the case if it were solid bar rather than rope. You should verify that your measurements correspond with the prevailing practice.

Ville, look into RMG...

June 7 2017, 11:18 AM

...tow cables from Portugal. Mr. Ricardo Santos has had a set of "Tunisian front Tiger " cables in the works.

Scroll about halfway down the page of products.

He had emailed me last winter that this set should be ready in March (2017).
...if you choose to go that route.

Henri Zimmermann.
