While building the M4 composite PTO kit, I've made an atempt to correct the transmission cover that comes in the kit.
First thanks goes to Mike Canaday, as he (IIRC) noted the dip in the most protruding part of the transmission housing. I've added two images, one showing the reworked part with comments, and one showing the part in Tamiya grey primer.
I used a large half round file (coarse) to file away the triangle in the centre of the housing. Finish with sandpaper.
Used Apoxy sculpt to blend in the two corners. The putty was shaped using round shapes of different sizes, like fe Edding markers, Labello lip balm holders, etc. I also added putty to the inside of the housing, as the material is almost sanded through in the middle. I marked the centre of the housing with a red pen to help shape the triangle shape (shown in blue here).
I used this walkaround by Rob Ervin as a guide:
This walkaround shows the triangular "depression", it just catches the light.
Let me know what you think.
